Brno is the second largest city of the Czech Republic, rich in history, culture, education, science and research, and well known for its international trade fairs and exhibitions. With a total number of 400,000 inhabitants it covers about 230 km2. Thanks to its favourable position in the centre of Europe it is also a strategic crossroad for railroads and road traffic as well as air transport.
The City of Brno has extensive experience in elaboration and implementation of various social projects and programmes. In 2005, Brno started the systematic planning of social services aiming at effective, accessible and high-quality services for its inhabitants. The activity involves all the relevant parties, i.e. representatives of the city, NGOs, professional institutions and also the users.
