The City of Stockholm participates in the Cities for Active Inclusion network through the Social Welfare and Labor Market Administration. The Administration provides a variety of services to the City of Stockholm's 14 District Administrations, as well as some city-wide social welfare programs. In general, it is the District Administrations that are in charge of the citizen’s welfare. Most of the social services offered in Stockholm rest upon legislation; Social Services Act and Support and Services for Certain Disabled Persons act. The Social Welfare and Labor Market Administration supports the 150 NGOs (non-governmental organizations) working in Stockholm, with 13 million euro per year. The NGOs operate in different areas, such as homelessness, support to former abusers, disability and women’s right. The Social Welfare and Labor Market Administration will contribute its experience to the LAO while at the same time benefiting from the outputs of the project and the transnational exchanges to improve its own work.
